WI-130 Dual Scale Counting System

This dual-scale system is designed to sample the piece weight of parts on one scale and count a container of parts on the other scale. Two modes of operation are provided: weigh only and weigh/count.

Upon power up, the WI-130 defaults to the weigh only mode. This mode permits the operator to place an item on either scale and view the weight. A function key is provided that will toggle between the two scales.

To enter the weigh/count mode, the operator presses the COUNT key. Before counting can begin, the piece weight must be calculated; therefore, the system displays a new function key, labeled SAMPLE. After pressing this key, the system prompts the operator to remove everything from the scale and press Enter. The operator then selects the number of pieces to sample.

After the operator places the selected number of pieces on the scale, the piece weight is calculated, and the WI-130 display changes to the counting mode.

When finished counting, the PRINT key is pressed to transmit the count and the weights through a keyboard wedge to a computer.

This application uses a keyboard wedge because the customer has a computer program that receives a part ID scanned by a barcode scanner, the count and the weights from the WI-130. The data passed through the wedge simulates keyboard input.
